Prof. Dr. Atilla Bayer is a senior ophthalmologist at Dünyagöz Ankara Tunus, known especially for glaucoma. Born in Kayseri in 1964, he graduated from GATA Military Medical Academy in 1988 and became an ophthalmology specialist there in 1994. He was appointed assistant professor in 1998, completed a glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia in 2001, became associate professor in 2003 and professor in 2009. He has practised as an eye specialist for about 32 years.
His work centres on intraocular pressure, glaucoma diagnosis and follow-up, advanced glaucoma, glaucoma surgery including MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery), gonioscopy, combined glaucoma and cataract, and complex or atypical glaucoma cases.
